CHICAGO OPEN HOUSE

OPEN HOUSE!

For the past few years, the Chicago Architecture Center has put together a Chicago open house where buildings that are usually not open to the public are open for a weekend in October. Last year, there were thunderstorms the whole weekend it took place and let’s be real I didn’t want to get out of my cozy bed. This year I made sure I cleared my schedule for at least one day and hoped the weather was pretty favorable. From sorority events to midterms, I haven’t been able to explore the city that much and I happened to have nothing scheduled for that Saturday. So this was the perfect time to do some exploring! There is a website that includes all the places that participate in the open house. The best part is you can save all the places you want to visit, which includes the location, so you can plan your day accordingly!

Since my friends and I had a little bit of a later start to the day and had some shopping to do, we picked two locations that were relatively close. We chose WeWork, which is a place you can rent your own offices and workspace, and the 465 North Park apartments. We did a little bit of research and it looked like they had some cool views in the city. When we got to WeWork, the views did not disappoint! Both were super trendy with modern fixtures, but my mind was fixated on the outdoor balcony at WeWork and the outdoor patio at 465 North Park. With the awesome city views, we fit right in snapping pictures left and right with everyone else. The weather could not have been more perfect with the sun shining and the fall colors coming out for the season. The dates for next year are October 19th and 20th, so mark those calendars and get out and explore! Enjoy some of the shots we took and our coffee stop at Bodega below! I mean sprinkled glitter on top of that mountain of whipped cream, YES PLEASE!
