Decorating For Christmas

I think we can all agree that 2020 has been the longest year ever and not the most cheerful. Although it has felt like the longest year I can’t believe that it is already December. My semester is coming to an end, which means I have one more semester of undergrad. It’s kind of crazy how everyone tells you your college days come and go so fast and you think four years is so long, but approaching my last semester I felt like I blinked and now I’m here.

Now that I’m home for my last official college winter break, I’m soaking up all the family time and enjoying the little moments, especially during these times. We have been trying so many new recipes, playing some card games (Phase 10 has been a new favorite over here), watching our favorite Christmas classics, and of course decorating for Christmas.

I don’t think we have decorated this much for Christmas EVER. I counted five trees around the house and enjoyed giving them the Victoria flare! Since we are spending so much time in our home, why not decorate to the fullest and enjoy some cheerful decorations?! I always love going through the decorations, especially the ornaments from many years ago that my sister and I have made at school or the ones my mom wants to pass down to us. Over the years you forget about the many ornaments you accumulate, but when you open them up each year they bring back so many special memories.

A Little Bit of Red and Gold

My mom has two themes for our main tree which we switch each year. Last year we did the copper, gold, and silver, so this year we put up the red and gold. Usually I love the chic look of the copper, gold, and silver, but we really filled the tree this year and did a variety of small and large ornaments and it turned out beautiful. The red is so classic and elegant, now I can’t decide on my favorite theme.

He likes the red and gold, but not his obstructed window view!

Scandinavian Meets a Little Sparkle

The color palette of this space is gray, black/white, and golds, so we wanted to center the Christmas decorations around it. Incorporating the glittery shelf bottle brush trees and a silver slim Christmas tree from last year we combined the chic sparkle with some new Scandinavian, minimalistic wood trees and light up houses my sister had found at Target.

We cozied up the fireplace with some stockings and this year decided to outline the brick with a string of lights. Although we don’t use the fireplace, the string lights give the space a cozy and relaxing feel.

We got a slim silver tree at the end of the season last year and mixed gold and a deep royal tone green. We looked high and low for the right color and ended up finding one last box of the medium sized ornaments at Hobby Lobby.
